There many aspects to our work, but probably the most enjoyable is when a completed project is handed over to the client. Residential projects have the capacity to make an enormous difference to someone’s quality of life through the enjoyment of their home. We spend a great majority of our time indoors, and this environment affects how we think and feel. It is this human factor that drives our passion for good home design, and the positive effect that it can have on the occupants.

This project, recently completed in Ladywell, within the London Borough of Lewisham, is for a family of four who came to us simply looking for more space. As is the case for most Victorian properties, there was little connection to the rear garden, and so we sought to address this alongside the client’s principle objective to create a large open-plan kitchen-dining room. Our proposal involved the erection of side and rear extensions to wrap-around the existing outrigger. With new steelwork installed to support the original outrigger above, a large open-plan space was created below. We configured the kitchen in a single long linear run along one wall, which provides the opportunity for the multi-functional use of the rest of the space: for dining, informal sitting, and party time! An abundance of rooflights bring daylight deep into the home, and to the rear bi-fold doors slide back to connect the room to the garden. We are so pleased to see our clients move back with increased enjoyment of their home.
