Chesham Bois - Planning Permission
We are delighted to have received planning permission for a significant rear extension and alterations to a detached house in Chesham Bois, on the edge of the Chilterns AONB in Buckinghamshire.
An unsympathetic conservatory is to be removed and replaced with a rear extension that provides generous new spaces for the family to enjoy, alongside a re-working of the floor layouts. The extension mediates a change in levels across the site, with a new day room opening onto the garden, and a generous dining area stepping up to line through with the kitchen. A double-height space beneath the extension roof provides a dramatic volume, and enables the insertion of a library mezzanine to overlook the social spaces.
Externally, the extension incorporates high quality materials, in charred timber cladding, black-framed composite glazing, and a clay tiled roof with a black zinc fascia detail. The windows and doors to the main house are in turn to be replaced with black-framed composite glazing, fortifying the relationship between old and new and greatly enhancing the appearance of the house.
We are excited to now start developing the technical details for the project – a stage that is critical to the overall success of the scheme.
